Uncle Tanner!

Last week, you finally met your Uncle Tanner!!  You two really hit it off:

He loved your "burrito blanket" (as he called it) and said that he wants one of his own.  He loved hanging out with you all weekend, and I heard him tell someone that he is "obsessed" with you.  So cute.  He even agreed to babysit you while we were in the temple for Derek's wedding.  I think he was a little nervous about it, but you did him a favor and slept the entire time.  Good boy.

Two-Month Doctor Appointment

You had your two-month doctor appointment recently.  Here are your stats:

Weight: 11 lbs 5 oz (49%)
Height: 23 inches (71%)
Head: 15.5 inches (42%)

You got five shots and one oral vaccination.  It broke my heart to see you so red-faced and screaming, but it was over before you knew it, and Gerry was waiting to comfort you.

The doctor said you are doing really well.  I asked her if I should be concerned that you spit up so much, and she said no because your weight gain is steady and healthy.  She said you have "amazing" head control for a baby your age.  I swear you've been holding your head up from the first week of your life--you are very strong.  You are also very alert.  You stare intently at people's faces, and you often look puzzled, pensive, or worried.  You started to smile this month, but it usually takes some work to get a smile from you.  You seem like a serious-minded little fellow, and you sure are precious.

Trip and Hike with the Cardons in New Mexico

Over Labor Day weekend, we went on a road trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico to see some of our dear friends from dental school, Creed and Tiffany Cardon.  They were some of our biggest supporters when we were struggling with infertility and adoption disappointments, so we were so excited to introduce them to you. In the future, you can call them "Uncle Creed" and "Aunt Tiffany". :)

When we arrived, Tiffany had a ginormous gift for you, which was presented by her three-year-old daughter, Madi:

It was a Baby Einstein "Under the Sea" Playgym.  You love it!  Whenever your dad lays you down on the mat to play under the mobile, he says, "Do you want to go for a swim under the sea?"  It's really cute.

The highlight of the weekend was taking you on your very first hike.  We went to a beautiful place called "Tent Rocks."

At first, Daddy carried you in the Moby wrap, but then he turned you around so you could see everything, and the wrap started to unravel, so he just carried you.

We had too much fun staging these "Pride Rock" photos, like the movie The Lion King.  We were all laughing and singing "The Circle of Life."

The hike was so beautiful, and we had a great time being outdoors as a family.  We've decided to try to hike as much as possible while the weather is still good--we've been on two more hikes since our return from New Mexico.  I hope we become an outdoorsy family.  I'd love to take you camping and hiking throughout your youth.

At the end of the holiday weekend, your dad had to get back to Denver to work, so he drove home.  You and I stayed in New Mexico a few days longer and then flew home on your first airplane ride.  You were an angel and slept the entire time.  Thanks for that.

Pumpkin Photo Shoot

This week, I bought you some new church clothes.  When you wore them on Sunday, I thought you just looked too precious, so I decided we needed to have an impromptu photo shoot.  We took you outside at Bapa's house, and lo and behold, there were some pumpkins on the porch.  Perfect!

The pics turned out darn cute if you ask me!

Look at your darling little shoes.

A little smile.

Precious

Sweet boy

Suddenly feeling concerned...

Mom, this isn't fun anymore.  Can we try a new position?

Little bit cross-eyed. :)

Oops!  Toppled over. :)

What blue eyes you have!
Bapa joins the fun...and you spit up (look closely).
Mom, this tie sucks.  It's choking me.  Can we take it off?

We love you, sweet boy!  Happy Autumn!  You are seven weeks old and cuter than ever!

Running with Mom

Your mom is trying to get her chubby butt back in shape! We went for our first run together last week, and we've gone for several since then.  You seem to enjoy it. :)  I wouldn't mind running either if I got to do it in this kind of luxury...

An Evening Walk With Dad

We bundled you up because we've had a cool couple of days here in Colorado.  Can I just say that you kill me in that little hat?  So stinkin' cute.

Gerry the Giraffe

You have a little stuffed giraffe that makes "white noise," and you love it.  I didn't know that a baby so young could love a toy so much.  Yesterday, I heard Dad tell you that the giraffe's name is Gerry.  Not sure where that came from...but it works!
